Coastal Odisha: plan for a cyclone warning

If a warning comes in your last month, ask the ASHA to shift you to hospital early.

Why It Matters (Clinical Guidance)

  • Before Cyclone Dana, Odisha moved pregnant women near their due date to hospitals; about 1,600 of them gave birth there.
  • Don't wait for the wind. Roads close before landfall.
  • Keep the MCP card, IDs, medicines and baby things in a waterproof bag. Skip this card if you live far from the coast.
Respectful Message for Elders & Family

“Maa, if a cyclone warning comes before the baby is born, the ASHA will help shift me to the hospital early. Please help me go as soon as she calls.”
